Georgia School Wellness Summit, March 12-13, 2010
Georgia School Wellness Summit: The Cornerstone of Academic Achievement On March 12-13, over 150 teachers and school professionals from around the state convened in Athens for the first-ever Georgia School Wellness Summit. Presented by Georgia Action for Healthy Kids, Georgia Department of Community Health, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the event allowed school professionals to learn easy tips for making healthy changes in their school. From improving cafeteria menus, vending, and school fundraisers to starting wellness programs for staff, learning about the new state legislation around fitness assessments for students, and hearing about resources across the state, participants were armed with tools to make their classrooms and schools healthier.
