Nebraska Action for Healthy Kids

Welcome to the Nebraska Team

Action for Healthy Kids is the nation’s leading nonprofit and largest volunteer network fighting childhood obesity and undernourishment by partnering with schools to improve nutrition and physical activity to help our kids learn to eat right, be active every day and be ready to learn.

The Nebraska Action for Healthy Kids Team promotes healthy eating and fitness to all Husker schools across the state. Working with a strong group of partners, the NE Team hosts an annual summit to recognize schools for their wellness efforts, and to educate and build awareness for the need for comprehensive wellness programs in schools.  During the 2008-09 school year, the Team also worked with schools to increase opportunities for kids to be active throughout the school day.  From in-class activities and enhanced after-school programs, children were provided better access to time for play and being active.

Looking Ahead

Our goals are to:

  • Recruit active volunteers across the state to help create healthy schools for our children.
  • Train schools on using Fuel Up to Play 60 to increase awareness of wellness programs in schools.
  • Educate students on healthy living and how to make changes in their school to impact health.

Get Involved

In Nebraska, there are lots of ways to get involved to help create healthy schools and kids. Please consider joining us at our upcoming events.
