The North Carolina Action for Healthy Kids Team hosted a school wellness advocacy training in early 2009 for parents and regional leaders to help expand their efforts to the grassroots level. The goal of this training was to prepare Team members with materials and awareness on how to engage community individuals and organizations in helping create healthy schools in their area. By forming these regional grassroots team, the NC Team is looking ahead to forge strong local connections all across the state.

Looking Ahead

Our goals are to:

  • Educate parents on healthy living and how to make changes in their child’s school that impact health.
  • Recruit active volunteers across the state to help create healthy schools for our children.
  • Recruit community members to become change agents for health in their school communities.
