Wisconsin Action for Healthy Kids

Welcome to the Wisconsin Team

Action for Healthy Kids is the nation’s leading nonprofit and largest volunteer network fighting childhood obesity and undernourishment by partnering with schools to improve nutrition and physical activity to help our kids learn to eat right, be active every day, and be ready to learn.

The Wisconsin Action for Healthy Kids Team is celebrating the release of the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards for Nutrition.  Many Wisconsin Action For Healthy Kids members contributed to the standards, and others helped test out the standards in the classroom.

Wisconsin Action for Healthy Kids will be working in collaboration with the Wisconsin Partnership for Activity and Nutrition (WIPAN) School Group to revise and update the Wisconsin nutrition and physical activity state plan.  This activity will take place through early 2010.

Looking Ahead

Our goals are to:

  • Educate parents on healthy living and how to make changes in their child’s school that impact health.
  • Train schools on using Fuel Up to Play 60 to increase awareness of wellness programs in schools.
  • Train schools on creating a healthy environment and how to make it policy.

Get Involved

In Wisconsin there are lots of ways to get involved to help create healthy schools and kids.  Please consider joining us at our upcoming events.

There are many opportunities to get involved with Action for Healthy Kids in your state in support of efforts to create healthy schools and kids. From becoming a Team member, to attending Action for Healthy Kids’ events, to signing on as an advocate, to making a financial contribution, consider joining our Team to determine ways to use your skills to create healthy schools and children!
